These cheese boards are hand made by Tomiyama Koichi , a Japanese artisan famous for his hand made cutting boards.
Tomiyama Koichi was born 1968 in Kanagawa. He dabbled in computer programming, scuba diving, and traveling before settling down as a craftsman.
Tomiyama Koichi was trained in the art of sashimono, the craft of joining wood together without the use of nails or other adhesives as well as traditional Japanese lacquer. He is self-taught in kusakizome (organic wood dyes).
These cheese boards are made from oak, and are available in a plain oil or a black oxide finish.
